Project Overview
Description
Signaloo is an iOS app that lets you share your status with people nearby using Bluetooth LE — no internet, no accounts, and no location tracking. See who's around you in real time within ~20 meters. True privacy-first social discovery.
Challenge
Build a social discovery experience that works entirely offline and protects privacy completely — no servers, no sign-ups, no GPS, and no analytics — while still feeling instant, native, and effortless.
Solution
A native iOS app built on CoreBluetooth that broadcasts a chosen name and status over Bluetooth LE and estimates proximity from signal strength alone. Everything is peer-to-peer and device-to-device, with safety controls, auto-expiring status, and six polished themes.
Up and running in 30 seconds
No accounts, no setup wizards, no permissions maze. Just three steps from download to discovery.
01
Set your status
Choose a display name and write what you're up to — "☕ Getting coffee" or "🎵 Listening to music". Optionally add a profile photo.
02
Start sharing
Tap the sharing toggle. Signaloo broadcasts your status over Bluetooth LE. No internet required — your phone does it all locally.
03
Discover nearby people
See everyone else who's sharing nearby. Distance labels update in real time. Tap anyone for details.
